Historic Lexington Homes Tour Set for October 18 & 19
Each year, people look forward to stepping inside some of Lexington’s historic homes and stepping back to a more gracious era. The 2008 Historic Lexington Homes Tour is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 18 and 19. Five distinctive private homes dating from the 1830s through the 1860s will be on the Tour, along with Christ Church Episcopal, and the Anderson House at the Battle of Lexington State Historic Site.
Shuttle buses with informative guides will run from the Lexington Tourism Bureau at 927 Main Street between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 18, and from 12 noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 19. Tour goers will be free to drive the Tour on their own; however, parking is extremely limited at some locations.
Tickets are $16 the day of the tour, which includes bus transportation. Beginning on Monday, Sept. 8, advance tickets may be purchased for $14. Groups of ten or more can purchase tickets for $12 each. Tickets can be purchased through the Lexington Tourism Bureau, the Lexington Chamber of Commerce, a number of area merchants, and online. Mark your calendars for October 4th & 5th - it's time to gear up for the Eleventh Annual Apples, Arts & Antiques Festival in historic Downtown Lexington! This year's event is bigger and better than ever! For the safety of visitors and vendors, Main Street will be closed between 8th and 12th Streets. But don't worry, there's plenty of off-site parking within a half block! We'll feature a main event tent at the corner of 10th and Main where the Lexington United Methodist Church will kick things off with a biscuits and gravy breakfast. Then there's live music all weekend long, craft vendors, kid's games, pumpkin painting, food vendors, a HUGE parade led off by Wentowrth Military Academy and of course, the Apple Bake-Off. We'll have the traditional award-winning apple auction and we'll even be auctioning off pies to benefit C.A.S.A. (Court Appointed Special Advocates) for children (a most worthy cause!). After that, join the pickers and fiddlers for an old time Barn Dance featuring some of the finest in local talent. This is a CAN'T MISS EVENT! Antique dealers from 4 states, crafters, top notch food vendors and a very special art show. We are honored to announce that nationally renowned Missouri artist Dennis Yates is the anchor artist for this year's show and he has spent the past several months painting scenes from our beautiful town. Join us October 4th & 5th for the finest small town festival ANYWHERE!
Applications for booth vendors can be located here.

On behalf of the citizens of Lexington, Council members and City employees, we invite you to visit our beloved City of Lexington, Missouri.
We are very proud of Lexington, with its rich history, beautiful homes and fine churches. Lexington is a unique and charming town situated on the Missouri River. You will find our city filled with wondrous sites, enchanting antique and specialty shops and stunning architecture. But Lexington is hardly a community with a great past and no future. Lexington is poised for great growth. The renovation of our downtown continues, with the addition of new antique shops, restaurants and a multiplex theatre complex. The new Missouri River Bridge and highway have expanded business opportunities for Lexington. Growth can be seen in new housing developments and new businesses.
Here you will find something special for everyone – young and old alike. Lexington is a vibrant and exciting community, with many things to see and do. We welcome the opportunity to share Lexington and all it has to offer with visitors and tourists who should prepare for a wonderful experience.
With our small-town atmosphere, amazing historic attractions, modern facilities and a variety of entertainment, Lexington is truly a “one of a kind” city. It is our hope that you will come for the history… and stay for a great experience.
Sincerely,
Tom Hayes, Mayor
