Preserving our History. Positioning for the Future.

From the Civil War era until now, Lexington can be characterized by its resilience, charm, and steadfast commitment to preserving its rich history, while embracing the intricacies of the 21st Century. For some, Lexington is best known for the Battle of Lexington or the cannon ball that’s still lodged high in a pillar at the Lafayette County Courthouse. But what people may not know is that Lexington is leading many rural communities, not only locally but nationally, when it comes to one of our most precious commodities, health and wellness.

Plans are underway to erect a state of the art, City-owned hospital in 2014, but what’s already in play are health information technology initiatives that include telehealth services, fully automated emergency room systems, e-prescriptions and other cutting-edge technologies aimed at reducing medical errors and cutting health care costs. If you add to that an unrelenting commitment to community, family, and education, you’ll get all the comforts of a small town—a place where you are proud to call home.  Lexington, deemed by many as a bedroom community, is rich in history with its beautiful antebellum homes, a storybook downtown that underscores 19th century architecture, and a burgeoning business community that steadily positions to be a player in this new economy.

We encourage you to take advantage of the information provided on this site. Whether you are a current or potential resident or business owner, we hope the site provides helpful resources, as well as a glimpse of Lexington, past and present. Welcome to LexingtonMO.com!
